Collaborative Matariki

On Thursday we got together with a senior class to a Matariki activity. We weaved a rainbow fish. It was really exciting to work with a senior buddy. We helped each other with every step and ended up with an amazing masterpiece!

What did we need?
Black paper
Colour paper
White paper
Scissors
Pencil
Glue

First we had to fold the black paper in half and draw some lines on it and then cut them for our weaving strips to go through. Then we had to cut colourful paper to weave with. When you weave your paper strips go over, under, over, under. Next we had to cut out a basic fish on white paper. We had to glue the fish frame onto our weaving. Here is our final product!

Week 12 Highlights

What a busy term this has been! 12 weeks long - 5 weeks of distance learning and 7 weeks in the classroom for most. During lockdown we had some fun work, easy work and hard work. When we came back from lockdown it was kind of strange because we got into a routine at home doing Google hangouts and school work. We were in lockdown for almost 2 months on our Chromebooks by ourselves lots. When we came back we had less Chromebook time and more time talking to our class mates and learning with friends. We missed learning collaboratively with our class. When we came back to school some of our class mates felt very nervous because we had been stuck at home for 2 months with only our family. We didn't want to get sick so we started strict routines. We had to sanitise our hands every time we came into the classroom. We also had to wipe the tables and door handles with disinfectant spray at the end of every day.

We are so happy and excited to have a holiday break where we can go out and do things with friends and family! Our last holiday break we couldn't go anywhere!  Enjoy your holidays!
